I'm interested in the Tops dagger. 1095 high carbon alloy. Is this a good steel? anybody know about Tops knives?

People will argue that there are better steels than 1095, and there obviously are....but ive never had a problem with the steel. I dont have any tops knives, but I do own quite a few with 1095 blades, and its definitely one of my favorite blade steels. It isnt anything fancy, but it takes a beating and sharpens easily. Ive heard tops people are nice to deal with, and will quicly fix any problems you may have.

Konnichi wa Ryosukei-san,

I have two TOPS knives; the Street Scalpel in 1095 and the Sea Wolfe in CM154. The Street Scalpel sharpens up like a scalpel. I have not done much with the Sea Wolfe yet so it still has the factory edge. The scalpel came with Micarta scales and the Sea Wolfe has what I think is blue G10.

My only criticisms of TOP's knives are the prices, which many have said are steep for 1095 and the sheathes which come with a belt clip I dislike and, in the case of the Sea Wolf, cannot be removed. For me, a knife and sheath have to work together to be an effective system.

TOPs make a very good knife. I've had several and still have an older model Badger. Yes their sheath's aren't the most versatile, but it doesn't take much to have a new sheath made for it and in my opinion they're worth the little added expense.

tops is my favorite knife company i have 12 and know helen and mike fuller besides justin from ranger you won't find nicer people to deal with

i've got a street scalpel and really like it, sharpens up good and performs very well for a sharpened crowbar. the only thing about the scalpel is the stock thickness, it's at least 1/4" but at least you won't break it. as far as 1095 goes i like it, a lot. later, ahgar
btw they do seem a little high for 1095
