hey guys, I'm wondering what you guys think of TOPS knives, models such as the marine heat, marine patrol bowie and the ATC lobo?

I like the looks of the ATC lobo. From what i have seen and handled in regards to their knives i either like them alot or not at all. Tops uses good quality materials....same rowen blades as Rat Cutlery. But where they go wrong is alot of their over the top " I ran outta ammo time to go super Rambo on everyone" knife designs. Many of them seem alot less functional and more geared toward mall ninjas. If i was still in the military i would be much more geared towards a very solid folder and my Rat Cutlery RC4. Also it depends on what you plan to use it for. But for me i would have no problem buying and using some of their more down to earth designs.

thats a very good point, i do like some of there designs, and i especially like RAT cutlery knives

Only handled a few mid to small designs, and generally I find them too thick and overly military-ish for my purposes - probably would work for uniformed personnel better than the typical person (i.e. different utility/defense tasks).

I only have one knife by TOPS and that is the Tom Brown Tracker. Honestly, I wasn't as impressed by it as I thought I would be. Don't get me wrong, it's a great knife but I think maybe a little overpriced and I was also a bit turned off by the fact that it did not come very sharp from the factory.

I heard mixed reviews on the Tracker. Most people either love it or hate it.

TOPS has a good reputation for customer service. If something isn't right they'll fix it.

They are thick knives. Which is fine with the larger blades, but becomes a problem on the smaller models.

I have a firehawk which I bought at Fort Benning back around 1999. Its a tough knife, but then I was gentle with it.
