this is my first post on bladeforums, hi people!

first off, im an ESEE fan. ive never owned a TOPS.

i'm looking for a comparison of the TOPS mini harpoon and the ESEE izula.
does anybody have both?

i know ESEE has the best warranty on the market, i'm just looking for a use comparison.
are TOPS knives any good?

i would use it for a neck carry knife, i know the ESEE is more bulky, does anybody
have experience carrying the izula around ur neck? does it ever fall out of the sheath?
mini harpoon seems to have a better neck carry system... but is it worth not having the esee name?

any info would help,
thanks

I don't have experience with the Mini Harpoon but I have 2 Tops and am looking at a 3rd. I have the Tracker 2 and 4 and love them both. My brother has an Esee and it is also nice. The Esee warranty is nice but I can't see a necker getting too much abuse. The fit ad finish on the Trackers is what I would expect of a knife costing that much and I have no complaints. The Esee 4 my brother got is also top notch in that regard. Either way I don't think there is a wrong choice here. Take a hard look at the sheaths and see which one looks like it will be better suited for what you want.

^very light weight and portable + very secure (though I usually have mine on my hip), the sheath is really awesome on the izula, and i will not leave out, its hella useful...

Can't help with the ESEE but of my 6 neck knives, 2 are tops. I have a Covert Solution and an ALRT XL05. Both very nice knives.

I've been known to rock the slightly larger Izula II around my neck in public -- albeit, under a sweatshirt or something. It carries well and i've worn it for countless hours. The blade retention is very solid in the sheath and I can honestly say i've never been worried about the knife falling out of the sheath.

If you're an ESEE guy, i'm sure you know about the upcoming Candiru? That would make a great little necker for sure when it comes out!
