This design seems like it would be a very good camp knife; 4-7/8" blade, relatively thin stock, flat grind, a Kydex sheath with a rotating belt clip, 154CM stainless steel, micarta handles---essentially, some key aspects I would like in a camp knife. Does anyone own one of these, and, if so, how does it stack up as a user?

Thanks for the input.

God bless you, America, our Allies, and our men and women overseas.

I'm with you. I plan to order a Pasayte...don't have it yet though.

:D

I can tell you that I really like my TOPS WSK (small survival knife) and Swiss Basic Tool (medium sized drop point brushcraft style knife).

Seems like a decent blade. I think that for the money you could do better though. A Fallkniven, Ontario or custom Ranger would be good alternatives. I have a few Tops blades that I like, but I think they should consolidate their product line and focus on refining the good designs and toss the bad ones. From my point of view it seems they are more concerned with selling knives than really putting out good products. The Pasayten looks to be one of the better designs. Just my .02

I've had the Pasayten for about six months before I deployed (currently on month 9 of 15). I was able to take it out camping/hiking while on R&R back in March. It's an outstanding camp knife. I love the wide but thin blade. The handle is a tad large, but easy to maneuver with. I don't really like the Kydex sheath, it's a little thin, but works okay. I did some chopping to make a few walking sticks, did a little whittling with it, and ended making lunch (chopped some tomatos, onions, pepperoni, etc.). Works for me:D

Price? Well, it's American made for a reputable company that does have some odd designs. It's made out of quality steel and material. I think you would be hard pressed to find a similar design with similar materials for the majority of prices you find on the internet (~$180ish). It's probably one of my favorite camp knives in that size outside of a custom.

I've got mine for about three years. Feels nice, it's sharp..., I like it a lot.

I like thin knives with flat grind. I've had several TOPS knives, but have sold all of them except this one...., very few TOPS knives use a flat grind.
