Basically, I'm just wondering if anyone has actually held one of these. I like the blade shape, thickness, steel (5160), and the price isn't too shabby either. My only concern is the handle. It looks a little too big and blocky. I have pretty small paws (the handle on the Fehrman Final Judgment I used to own was a bit too big for me...its only drawback IMPO), and I would like to have a good grip if I'm swinging a 12 inch blade! Any input would be appreciated.

I've had mine for the last 6 weeks or so. I have a BIG hand, though... it feels great for me.

It's definitely a big blade.., a nice chopper. Not great for little things to cut, though. The center of weight is somewhere between 1 to 1 1/2 inches into the steel from the handle.

Kirk, do you think it would be too big for smaller paws? As I said, that's my only real concern. Also, do you know what the hardness of the blade is? I couldn't find that info.

Thanks:thumbup:

All I know is that my big hands feel fine. I haven't offered anyone with smaller hands to feel the knife. If you've held a Newt Livesay RTAK, you'll know that knife had a big handle.., maybe the same size..., but the Power Eagle's handle is far for comfortable.

And I haven't gotten anything from TOPS about the hardness of the blade.

Bringing this one back up to see if anybody has any new opinions or reviews. Still on the fence about it. I love the design and steel.

They incorporated some good design aspects into this one, but I'd have loved to see the sweet spot/balance closer to the tip of the blade for chopping performance. If you're going to use it as a hog sticker, it'd be a fantastic design, but as a rough use camp blade and utility tool, I think I'd rather have the weight be focused at the tip.

I'd stay away from the Rocky Mountain Tread handle version on a chopper like this. I have that handle on a Pry Knife from TOPS. It could cause some bad hot spots on a chopper.
I'd also like to know the hardness of this, cause I like 5160.

It looks like it is heavily influenced by the Barong so the design has stood the test of time.

A little history from Wiki

"Barong are weapons used by Datus, Rajahs and Sultans. Because of its distinctive thickness, the barong has become famous for being able to cut the barrels of muskets and rifles - a characteristic which proved particularly useful in the Muslim Filipino wars against the Spanish during the early colonial period in many battles, such as that of Fort Pilar, where Rajah Dalasi of Butig took on a solidly entrenched, technologically superior force.[2] In contemporary battles, Muslim Mujahideen (Wariors) Barongs have been said to be used to slice through M-14 rifles.[2]"

Could you post some pics? I want one of these but looking for some real pics, I am hoping someone will do a youtube vid on it!
