Does anyone know if the Tops Scorpion's Tail functions the same as a typical karambit?

I've got Emerson's, Tarani"s, and a few others, and I can't seem to find anyone who has handled one enough to tell me if it is comparable or if it's just a waste of time to buy. I've got tons of Tops knives, so I know it's tough, but can it function as a karambit, or is it just a nice knife that happens to have a finger ring?

I'm honestly not sure what they're intended for...but we special ordered one for someone to use as a basketry knife. :D Can't think of any other good uses for it though.

I had 2 a while back, as you say its a TOPS so its defo tough enough but the package as a whole just didnt do it for me.

It does work well for its purpose but the shape takes a bit of getting used to over an EKI or tarani.
The micarta handle didnt feel as good as the skeletonised one with a cord wrap IMO
and the blade is pretty small, I personaly liked that about them but I know some folks dont.

Its not bad but I just prefer the other k,bits I have over that particular one.

Thanks guys.Sounds like It's an OK knife. I think I'll go ahead and pull the trigger.
Worst case scenario, I'll just have another Tops knife!!!

i really like the mantis mrs smith karambit.

I've got a scorpion's tail by TOPS, and I think it's a very BADLY balanced Kerambit. I've got many more Kerambits, such as the Super by Emerson and the Strider ones. Even the CS tiger-claw (or w/e) has a better balance than the Scorpion's tail.

I'm a newbie in k'bits, how should a karambit ideally be balanced, and how the Scorpion's tail is balanced? Thank you!

Well, for starts the Tops Scorpion Tail is way too light, and that forces you to use more effort/force when spinning the Kbit. Not a good feature, since you want to spin it at ease, without putting too much effort, what can lead to mistakes.
Also, the ring is too thin for me. It kind always slides up and down my fingure. another very uncomfortable feature, since you want the Kbit to always rotate straight.
And finally, I think that the Edge/ grind itself is not as functional as the original design is. The arrow-like Tops Kbit has a short blade, which does not have enough length for slashing, and once stuck deep into a material (flesh, cardboard, wood, etc.) the knife cannot be easily retrieved.
Unlike in a typical Kbit, where the claw-shaped blade slides in and out of material with ease.

Thanks! Maybe I should reconsider buying it :)
