Tops Sheath for Trash 2

Bought a Tops knives sheath for my Trash 2 a while back. It works pretty good.

Some features of it, 2 pockets with clip closures. Double velcro handle straps. Plastic insert for the knife blade to protect the sheath. Insert was heated up to snug the blade in the sheath. The sheath insert fits snug into the sheath itself so it wasn't necessary to glue the insert in. I would like the insert more if it was kydex, but I don't mind the plastic. The sheath came with some 550 cord tied to the leg strap. So far the insert hasn't dulled the blade any and hasn't left any marks on the blade coating. The blade doesn't extend further than the insert, and when I heated the insert to fit the blade I flattened the unused portion at the bottom to help snug the blade. I heated the insert up and then put the blade in and pressed them between a couple pieces of foam to tighten the fit. So far no rattles.

Looks good. Too bad Specops won't offer up a larger sheath. Will have to look to see if the Tops sheath is available without the knife.

Someone left a review on the TOPS sight I think and said the kydex liner cracked later on. How strong does yours seem? Thanks for posting. This is my fav knife - makes afternoons outside a delight.

The plastic insert seems fine to me so far. I could see causing it to crack if you leaned on it without having the knife in the sheath. A kydex insert would be better for it, but so far the plastic is holding up.

They do offer the sheaths separate and in different sizes. As a comparison to spec ops, spec ops is definitely heavier duty but I think the tops sheath would still last a good amount of time.
