These knives are a pretty similar shape, the tops has a longer spear point blade (7 3/4 inches) in 1095 and a more comfortable looking handle, but all the "extras" seem gimmicky to me and i cant imagine missing them. The cold steel has a shorter clip point blade (5 1/2 inches) in cpm 3v, very straight forward, simple design which i like.
They are both similar in price (somewhere around $150).
I imagine they perform pretty similar in function, but the tops would be the better chopper of course.
I am pretty sure i will go for the cold steel when the time comes but it just struck me how similar these two knives are and wanted to hear what people had to say!

Tahoma all the way. I've used this on many backpacking trips and let me tell you it eats wood like no other. I have to say I have never used the CS but that's cause my tops works so damn well. For 150 you cannot go wrong. Just my opinion of course.

Don't have either of these (yet). Between these two, I'd choose the AK47. I'd usually opt for the bigger knife, but this one's in CPM3V supersteel! TOPS makes a lot of great knives, and I do like the Tahoma design overall, but that stupid little notch in the blade spine has always pissed me off. While I haven't heard of any Tahoma knives breaking, it's still a totally unnecessary weak spot in the spine. Who would ever use that notch to pick up boiling pots? If not for that notch, I'm pretty sure I'd have bought a Tahoma already.

Between the two I would likely take the TOPS as it looks to have much better ergos and for a fixed blade I would camp with that's honestly my number one concern. That said, neither would be my first choice.
