I like the ESEE-6 better. The full flat grind makes it a better slicer, and it's still super tough.

Ive never seen that TOPS before, and I like it. I might even even say Id take it over the ESEE in this one, the saber grind would split woof better than an ffg and it looks more blade heavy for chopping. Id have to see the sheath to make a definite call.

Cervical or survival?

Just giving you are hard time.

The ESEE is a nice blade. I do not yet have the 6, but my experience with the others tells me it is a good blade.

I could tell you that I do not like the Tops because of the swedge and the pommel, but for every downside I can tell you about, someone else can probably point to another use where it is an upside. There is a lot of personal preference...I say get the one you are leaning towards and get really familiar with it. Once you develop the skills to use a particular knife, you will likely understand that it is a lot more about the skills than the fairly small differences between these knives.

I'll preface this by saying that I like a great number of Tops knives designs and the one I own is fantastic. But in this case it looks like the Tops has jimping right where my little finger would go, which would bother me in use. As far as I'm aware the Tops has a kydex sheath, so IMO the Esee has a superior sheath. Plus the Esee warranty is unbeatable, where as the Tops one's a bit of a joke (although in both cases you'll probably never need it).

I'm not a big fan of recurves, and the handle on the ESEE looks more comfortable overall -- but that could be because I've handled them and know how they fit my hands.
ESEE also offers a sharpened swedge if that's a tipping point.
price between the 2 is similar enough there's no advantage.

Esee for sure, better grind and handle, more useful blade shape with no swedge and nice light sheath.
The esee-6 is a great slicer with backbone, it is a better slicer than the esee-4 imop, less shoulder behind the edge. I would jump for joy if they offered the esee-4 in 1/8.
