Hi guys I am new to the forums, and a born again knife enthusiast. I have started a basic collection of several different makes and models. I am curious however if anyone owns a TOPS tracker designed by Tom Brown. I camp a lot and need a knife that can take a beating. I would like it to be good at chopping, cutting, filleting, etc. I like the look and design of this knife, i am just unsure of the pricetag, or if it will live up to what i read on Tops' website. If you have any info or experience with this knife please share. thank you

Give the "Search" feature a try. This knife has been review over and over again.

The concensus as I remember was, it does no one task great. It does them all "ok". It doesn't chop like a hatchet, but it does chop. It doesn't slice as well as a thinner blade, but it does cut. It won't skin a deer easily but it'll get the job done...

See where I'm goin with this?;)

I just finished "opining" about TOPS blades in another thread. They're ground wrong, in my opinion.

Just for the sake of having another option, take a look at this knife.....

Scroll down past the babes and you'll find the Red Scorpion is alot like the TB Tracker.....
Just a thought.....

Look at Ranger Knives

Great knives,, won't kill your budget..

The RD series is what I would be looking at...

A 9" + blade for $120.00

I bought one off a mate and it will be arriving tomorrow. I have wanted one for ages. I hear the edge needs thinning which is fine for me..I like sharpening. The Red Scorpion is also good but I prefer the 1095 carbon steel in the Tops version over the 440c steel used in the Red Scorpion. The MT USK is the one I really want though... http://www.mtknives.com/

thanks for all the help. I like the look of the ranger knives, but they don't have any specs on them...

Not sure if you are still following this thread but I wanted to let you know my thoughts on the tracker. As I mentioned, my mate traded one to me in mint condition. Man this thing is brutal. Fantastic knife and nice and heavy. I got the leather square sheath which is a must have. Not a cheap knife and the rangers are great value but if you pick up a tracker you will love it.

After doing a nit of research i think the tracker may not be for me. Unless yo can tell me what you used it for and how it performed. I am stilll open to suggestion.
