help me out. I want an EDC/ survival knife. I would go with the Izula in a second, but I like the micarta handle alot better then a paracord wrap. The TOPS is smaller than the Izula, but that could be good and bad. I am new to this forum, but on other formus I have been on (AR15.com), people tend to shy away from TOPS. any reason for this, or is it just out dated from newer companies like RAT Cutlery and SWAMP RAT. I seem to have all the info I need on the big hit Izula, but if anyone has some info on the Wolf pup, it would be appreciated.
Thanks schwome:D

TOPS IMO is a tad overpriced for what it is. It's only 1095 and micarta, this combo can be had much cheaper from other manufacturers. That being said, there is nothing functionally wrong with their knives, they work just fine. The Wolf Pup strikes me as more of a skinner than a survival knife, and seems much thicker than it needs to be. You're better off with the Izula. Or, if you like that style, Becker is said to be coming out with micarta slabs for their Necker sometime in the near future. That combo might be a little closer to what you're looking for.

Well RAT cutlery makes a GREAT knife. I have an RC-4 and love it. If you are worried about the lack of a handle on the Izula and you are even remotely handy you should be able to fit a pair of wood scales to it fairly easy. I have seen one or two already done. I dont know why people shy away from tops other than alot of their blades are thicker than most like or need for EDC or even backpacking/Bushcraft use. Just a note... Rowen makes the blades for Rat cutlery and if I am right they also make the blades for TOPS as well. The difference is going to be in the heat treatment. The other is going to be the grind. The Izula has the full flat grind and the WP has a grind that starts about halfway down the blade. Personal taste for me and alot of people would lean toward the full flat grind. So in short if I had to choose it would be the Izula hands down. Throw some scales on it and a wicked convex grind and you would be set for any EDC need.

thanks guys for the info. I am pretty sure I will stick with the Izula now. I like how the Izula sheath looks more versitile than the kydex sheath that comes with Tops. I think I would trust RAT a little more too because of their warranty. I am sold. Izula it is. Thanks:)

The TOPS seems to be a very specialized knife with its short but very thick blade while the Izula seems to be a general all use knife. They're are both made by the same people (Rowen).
