Tops Zero Dark 30

Hey everyone, just browsing the TOPS site, and came across this new knife by them called the "Zero Dark 30". Really nice looking knife. Just wondering if anyone has it or used it yet? Since it's very new I'm guessing probably not.
Also, I'm not sure exactly of the intended use of a knife like that, I'm guessing military/tactical, but I'm wondering would it be of any much use in an outdoors/"survival" situation, since I like the look of it so much and might buy it.

How could you not know the intended use for that knife? They tell you right on the webpage you linked...

It's for spec op parachutists. Duh. So...unless you are one of those, or as awesome as one of them...don't even think about buying one. And don't take it camping! Unless its spec ops camping.
 
Us Spec Ops parachutists don't like your attitude, Marcinek. What? You don't think I am a real spec ops parachutist? Why the open air food court then, huh? Just answer me that!

IMHO, that long swedge on the spine would limit its usefulness as an outdoor knife. I don't know how sharp the swedge is, but even if it's fairly dull it's bound to dig into your hand if you find yourself needing to push on the spine for any reason. Batoning (if you're into that sort of thing) is going to be tough too, since the swedge will chew the heck out of whatever you're using as the baton. It's a fighting knife made primarily for stabbing and slashing. It could be used for some outdoor uses in a pinch, sure, but it's not going to do nearly as well as a more utilitarian blade shape. If you like it that much, though, the only excuse you really need is that you want it. I have quite a few knives that aren't that great for general use, but I enjoy owning them just from a design standpoint. :thumbup:

Thanks for your help! Everything you said is right, but I liked the knife so much I was sort of blinded by that! Anyway like you said, if I like it, get it! :D I can always just fondle it.... :P

Glad to know I'm not fondling alone 😂 my gf thinks I'm nuts sitting with a dozen of my friends of the day
