Was told about this little light from another forum. The Torch Light C78. I was looking for a small AA light that was capable of zooming from flood to throw. The price was great at $8.99 shipped. Here's the specs:

Head extends (slides) out for throw:

My camera doesn't work well for night shots, but here it is on my shed with the flood setting:

And here it is set on throw. Strange shape, but really works well:

The throw on this little thing is amazing. I could easily see it on a tree from about 15 feet in the daylight. At night, it's easy to see the beam, shining it up in the sky. The only real drawback I see, is the cheapy on/off button on the back. Not sure how long it will last, but for $9, who really cares?

Totally cost me $50 as I need 1 for house, 1 for wife, 1 for truck, 1 for back up and 1 for father in law

Hmm. I like flashlights, and for $10 I should probably get one. I think you may have just cost me money. Thanks. :p

Not bad for $9 ... another great budget light to look at is the Sipik SK68, it can usually be found for under $7.

Just checked that out. Hard to beat for the price. Looks like it comes from the same place I got the C78 at.

I hate cheap Chinese flash lights.
Because they FAIL.
I bet you can get non-failing lights for like 30 bucks.

It doesent matter if they work for a year or 3, it still isn't worth they money.

Most flashlights are made in China it's just that the major players have better quality control.

Some of the Chinese budget lights give you some great value. YMMV

From what I know, the Streamlight Stylus Pro is made in China. Paid $15 for mine, works flawlessly.

I've got to agree.

I've purchased a couple of the cheaper Fenix lights this week based on the reviews here
and must say I'm not impressed with the quality.

I own Surefire (five of them), Pelican (PM6 3330) and Princeton Tec (Impact Xl and Attitude 3),
and can recommend them all as none of them have ever let me down.

My next purchase will likely be a Surefire P2x Fury dual power 500/15 lumen for around $120 bucks,
I expect it will work my whole life and then some without an issue.

It's about $20, and that's a good anecdotal comment, but out of 420 reviews on a large website,
about 8% of the reviews were complaints about the Streamlight Stylus Pro failing.

Sorry, but that's too high of odds for me; it doesn't appear to be very well built, either.

I bought mine at a large knife retailer a few years ago(for $15). I've used mine, and it's been dropped in puddles, into rocks, off my roof (onto grass) and it hasn't failed me. By no means am I saying the others haven't failed, just stating what my experience has been. As for being well built, it's built good enough for me and my uses, which I'd imagine are a little rougher than what it should be used as, but not abuse. (Nor is it used as hard as a lot of others, I'm sure)

Yes, it appears that you are one of the 90% that are pleased with it.

ETA: I do own a Streamlight Twintask 3AA (out of production xenon model)
that I've had for about three years.

It is one of my favorite flashlights and I use it all the time,
mainly because it is big enough to be easy to find and I like the switch.

It's a little weird, it alternates between xenon / off / 3 LED / off,
and it neither puts out much light (30L) nor has a great light pattern,
but it is great for around the house, and it has never failed either.

I still think that for high output flashlights that are ultra
dependable that there are better options than cheap
Chinese products. I like my Fenix flashlights, but when I
decide to get the 6-800 Lumen model I would prefer to
get one of high quality that will be guaranteed to last.
