Tom,

Michael Walker told me about this last year at ECCKS as my first titanium side-lock was really sticky. Heating it ti red hot makes a layer of titanium oxide which is super hard.
I havent had galling problems since. Plus the engagement part of the lock will be lots more wear resistent.

I'll preface this by admitting I don't know what I'm talking about, but why not polish it. Titanium gets very slippery when it's polished.

Torching the liner lock surface not only helps with galling but also pretty much eliminates the wear issue. Hardness of the heat treated surface is around 90Rc but is very thin.

Hey Guys!

I have heard that anodizing the liner will have the same effect. Is there any truth to that?

Do you hear that?
That is the sound of inevitability.
