Tormek stone grader alternative?

Has anyone tried using different sharpening stones or diamond plates to grades/resurface the grit on Tormek wheels? I’ve done a little bit of diggin around on the Tormek forum and was only able to find one thread in which it was mentioned. A guy said that he used diamond stones and they worked real well. I have a bunch of sharpening stones and diamond stones around, but not the Tormek stone grader. I was trying to avoid shelling out for it if I could get the same or better results from what I already have. Has anyone tried using a different method of resurfacing their tormek wheels?

On the standard SG250 stone (aluminium oxide) you can use the stone grader (black silicon carbide), or the TT50 diamond truing tool, or a diamond stone.
On the SB250 stone (black silicon carbide) i have found the stone grader to be of little to no use (same abrasive), which leaves the other 2 options.
I only own a SB250 stone and use the TT50 for correcting the squareness/flatness of the stone, and a double sided diamond stone for light cleanings/touchups in between.
Both work very well.

I use a diamond wheel dresser mounted in the chisel/plane iron jig to re-true my Triton stone. It came with a cheap combination wheel dressing stone that works well.

Perfect! Thank you sir! I have a Grizzly Tormek clone so this will go right along with it.

My main desire is to be able to dress the surface to a finer grit. If I need to hog chips out or reprofile, I’ll use my 2x72. How does the Grizzly stone dresser work for making a fine surface? Saw 1000 grit or higher?

Thanks again for the info. Also, thanks to you other guys for responding.

The Grizzly dresser fine produces - about 20 micron finish equates to about FEPA P 1000
