Does anyone have any experiences with it?
How sharp does a knife get with the standard equipment? The seller told me that knives are shaving sharp after finished on the leather honing wheel.

I personally have never seen one as they are not a very popular machine around here and I think fairly expensive.

I have heard of a couple people that use them and frequent this forum so just give them some time to see this thread. It might take a couple days but I think you will get the answer you are looking for.

Since they are not that popular there might be better machines that are more popular. For a hand powered device, the Edge pro Apex/pro are very popular and get great results. I have one and was able to get a mirror hair splitting edge the first time I used it. For a electric powered design, the paper wheels are popular and also work very well. I also have these and can get hair whittling edge is just a couple minutes.

Good luck.

For many years, I've been sharpening by hand, but now it's working too slow for I get large amounts of knives to sharpen and my costumers expect me to sharpen them very quickly. There is not many good sharpening machines in my country but Tormek looks good and I can get it here.

Hi, I've got a Tormek T7, which is a bit more versatile than the T3. However, for mere knife-sharpening, the T3 will sort you out just as well.

I definitely recommend the the Tormek system, but it's very expensive. What I like about it is that it is quiet, slow and dust-free; meaning, you won't hurt yourself as easily as with any fast-powered machine and you won't get any dust particles in your lungs or eyes because it's all collected in the water and down into the tray. I have mine in my apartment and the only time it's loud is when I regrind/straighten out the stone (1-2 minutes).

Study up on the differences of the two models and get the one that will suit your needs. The T3 is really good, but it can't do all the things which the T7 can, which is why I cried once and got the T7.

As for sharpness — yes you will get scary sharp grinds and edges with this system. However, you will need to practice with it. When you get the machine, start out your sharpening career by using inexpensive knives, as you're bound to screw up the grinds and edges in the beginning. It took me about 5 knives before I got the hang of it. It's really about technique, so don't buy into the advertisement too much. It's not as easy as it looks and the machine won't do all the work for you. You must keep the blade steady and with the right amount of pressure etc.

So, don't worry about how sharp this system can get your knives, because as with any system you can buy, it's all up to how good you are with it; ultimately.

Hi
If you are looking for a cheep but good machine I would recommend a 1"
belt grinder .It takes some practice but it does a good job. In my area they
aren't cheep but the whole system runs under 150$ . I can do up to 100 knives (10" abused kitchen) a day with nice results. If you have the space
and money get the 2" that's what most knife makers seem to use and its
quicker.
