As for where to buy (if you decide to get one)... you'll usually find very little difference in price... local is best if you can... if you're in the U.S., I think Advanced Machinery is the main Tormek distributor.

We've had two, a T2000 and a newer T8, both of which have performed very nice. There are also a few changes in the newer jigs that make them a little better, but some changes like the new dresser design seem to perform slightly less accurate than the original. There is a learning curve for new owners, but once you get past that you can get some very nice "V" edges on knives that both perform and look great.
