Which would you prefer?

Benchmade 520 Pardue Presidio

or

Spyderco Manix

Thanks,
Allen.

I just ordered the Manix--should be waiting for me when I get home this evening. The 520 is also on my list but I love Spyderco's so I had to get it first.

So many knives...so little $.

Allen,

The Manix has the better steel; the Presidio the better lock (for one hand open and close). If you live in a jurisdiction where there is a 3 1/2 inch blade limit, the Presidio is obviously under and the Manix over. Personally, I like lockbacks, have two of them. I'd go with the Manix. They'd both be illegal for carry in DC, so I can't have either. I envy you.

I agree with you also. You are not going to be dissapointed with either choice. That said, my preference would be the BM simply due to the axis lock.

Both are great knives, but I would go with the 520. Hopefully Spyderco will offer a black blade version of the manix next year. :D

Everybody's been on the Manix bandwagon lately, so I'll say Manix. Never used one, but would like to get it. I only own a BM Apparition, owned a Griptilian 550S, wasn't me, but look at my want list, I've got about 7 Benchmades I'm looking for.

Since I have a Manix, and really like it, my vote is for the Manix. I have always liked Spydies, and have owned many different models, and this is my favorite. From EDC uses to wilderness chores I have been really pleased with it.

I have a Manix. It's a handfull of knife, big, heavy, just what you want in a heavy duty knife. G10 handle feels great.

The BM is a great knife, but lighter (aluminum), smaller, with a good blade but not as good as Manix. (S30V vs 154CM)

The BM 520 is a great folder, heavy, awesome lockup, great feel in the hand, and built like a tank. I don't have a Manix so I can't compair them but I don't think you can go wrong with the 520.

You can open and close the Manix one handed easily too.

Another vote for the Manix. I have handled both and while I echo the sentiments about not being dissapointed whichever you chose. The Manix for me is a lot more knife.

From cursory inspection only, they both seem like very well-done knives. But in this case, it's the Manix that sings to me, that's what I'd get. Love the grind, LOVE the blade shape, love the handle, love the opening hole.
