Does anyone know off the top of their heads what would be a maximum tightening torque for 1/4" stainless steel nuts and bolts. I'm assembling my freon tank mini-forge and don't want any of the hardware (burner mount, handle, leg assembly, etc.) to come loose and they are all conected to the forge body with 1/4" SS hardware. I'd like to use my torque wrench to make sure they don't. Thanks! -Guy Thomas

Use locknuts (the ones with the nylon inserts) where the heat isn't too bad. Use two nuts, tightened against each other, where the heat would melt the nylon. Torque numbers aren't all that important on stuff like that. Just get it good and tight, but don't snap anything.
