can i get a stiffer torsion bar from kershaw(or anywhere else for that matter) for my avalanche? the knife works great and I love the thing, I just want to give it a little extra pop....customize.

depending on how long you've had it you may just need a new one. im not aware of anyone other than kershaw that produces torsion bars for kershaws. however, i know that when my ZDP cyclone was starting to get sluggish, i got a new bar from kershaw and cleaned it up real nice. thing snapped like the day i got it.

hope this helps

John, like Slade said, get another torsion bar and PB washers. While you've got it apart, polish up everything you can, lube it, and it should snap like new.

Oh, and DON"T forget to have the blade open when ya take it apart!

+1 on the polishing and what not...... but, wouldn't some hotter torsion bars be interesting.

Thanks for the help guys. Honestly the knife is still pretty new and works fine...i really am just looking for a hotter bar to give the action a little more authority. I took the knife apart when it was new and sanded the handles down because the g10 was so course. Ever since then cant stop trying to come up with ideas to make it unique but subtle. I like that the grips are slightly different than factory and wanted to make the action a little unique also......anybody got any ideas?

Sorry, I read into your first post that the knife had some age on it...this is clearer now.

Seems to me that all SpeedSafes are a little tight when new. Give it a few months and see if it doesn't loosen up a bit and fire a little faster. All of my SpeedSafes have been this way.

When you get to the point of a tear-down for cleaning purposes, get some Flitz and 1000 grit wet paper and polish the washers, pivot, scales and blade where they meet. It will make a difference.
