Torture Testing Pictures

hi this is DaQo'tah

are you bending the knife to try and see if it will flex to 90 degrees?

I have not tested my knives yet,,,oh I ment to,,,but its hard to stick a perfectly good blade into a vice and start wrenching on it.

I may have to test a blade now and then if I make many more,,,can a guy just test the steel before its been made into a knife blade, or do you have to go to all the trouble to grind it down to a sharp edge?

I have seen this type of testing done before to blades, however I think I remember you have to place some rounded pieces of wood in the jaws of the vice , otherwise the knife was sure to break on the sharp edge of the vice.

DaQo'tah,
No, already accomplished 90 degree a long time ago. Its the pursuit of adding strength to that equation in more of a balance. I just like a little more resistance. Especially concerning sword blades (which will also be added).
Don't use my testing as a benchmark. Its rather rough and unforgiving, a knife doesn't have to do this. Such as, bend with a sharp edge and sharp edge on the vise. Its just some info for those interested in "limitations". For those curious about extremes. Not for everyone. Plus, few work with 1045, so I am providing data to pick from. This is but a small dose of info, with much more to come. I.e. grain size, microstructure and metallography, etc.
