I just purchased this new grinder from TORUS CNC. Rich is the owners name and a GREAT GUY! I have owned way too many grinders to admit. I did a lot of reading and insight on Rich's work. He offers 3 forms of his grinder. All Aluminum, all Steel, and all Stainless steel. Being in humid NY. It was definitely Aluminum or the SS. Im sure the 1/2" Aluminum would have been plenty. However, I chose the all SS. Only Aluminum part is the awesome deep platen.
I had read how incredible Rich's machine works was. How EVERY edge is beveled. No sharp edges or corners. The FIT AND FINISH second to none! Stability and rigidity was second to none.
Everything came in 2 huge boxes. Extremely well packed. Everything basically ready to go. VFD and motor wired to go. Reverse switch standard. I purchased the entire package. Which was ss grinder, platen, awesome work rest, small wheel attachment w/wheels, and 8" contact wheel. All with their own tooling arms.
Once unboxed. I saw what other owners were talking about. The machine works was incredible. Once hooked up and tested was where I was really surprised.
Except for maybe my original KMG. I have never seen such a stout, stable, and rigid machine. Besides the quality. I think the RATCHET TENSION SYSTEM plays a huge part in how smooth it runs.
The biggest surprise was in reverse. I did not have to touch the tracking at all! It ran just as good in Reverse as it does forward. Not one of the 8 grinders I previously owned did that.
To sum it up. Its an incredible grinder. At a ridiculous price. Made by an incredible machinist and individual. THANK YOU RICH
