About an hour ago i picked up a Kershaw Kuro for a little over 20 bucks.... damn good deal
Zytel handles, 8CR13MoV, Speedsafe, three position pocket clip, flipper, no thumbstuds, came shaving sharp out of the package. I love it. One of my favorite new EDCs for sure

My only complaints are the lack of grip (though it's not that bad), The thin liner, and the torx screws are incredibly small.

It came tip-down carry and all i want to do is switch the (laughably small) pocket clip to tip-up but as opposed to Kershaws usual T6 or T8 screws these are just amazingly small

Obviously i need to buy a new set of bits but i can't even identify what size these screws are. I've looked at many sources and haven't been able to find any info on it.

Can anybody help me with this?

Thanks for your reply, Coli. The screws are surely Torx but before i order a set i need to know what size. Most sets go from 5 and up, a few are 4 and up, and smaller sizes I can really only find single bits of T3 and T2.

Thanks for the link and help, bpeezer, but unfortunately i do not own a caliper. It may be a T6 and i'm just seeing it as tiny because of the ridiculously small pocket clip but i'm pretty sure it's smaller than that.

If you search for 'torx cell phone repair kit' you can find a set for about $10 shipped that includes T2, 3, 4, 5 & 6. That would probably cover you for just about any really really tiny torx that you'll encounter.

bpeezer:
Your Wiki reference to the torx bit sizes is certainly interesting. Thank you.

It's probably a 4. I have 3 Kershaws all of which use a 6 or an 8 but I my friend's Spyderco uses a 4. Wouldn't be surprised if it were a 4. See if you pick up Husky 8-in-1 Torx bit screw driver from your local hardware store. Shouldn't be more than $7 and it has a bunch of bits ranging from 4 to 15. Great investment for folders.

Good luck getting that pocket clip unscrewed once youfind the right size also, I've heard that Kershaw started using super-atomic strength loctite on their screws now

I found a set with T2 T3 T4 T5 and T6 bits. This should be perfect. It was also only 3 bucks from an American seller on Ebay.

Thanks for the help, guys.

The difference between a great set of Torx bits and a crummy set of Torx bits is the same as buying a knife from a reputable manufacturer or a gas station.

Wiha or go home. Spend the money on the knife, spend the money on the tools to take care of it.

Wiha is great but I've been using a set of GearWrench T5-T10 for years with only positive results. They're about half the cost of the equivalent Wiha set but plenty quality for me.

I do agree though, super cheap bits can and usually do turn out to be bad news. Be careful.

I've got several Torx sets. I'm sure i have one that could fit this somewhere in the shed but that would be a lot of digging. All the sets i can find go from T6 and up or T10 and up.

I'm likely only going to use this set for the bit i need for this knife. So I've got a 20 dollar knife that i'm going to change the pocket clip on once. Just seems illogical to spend more than the entire knife cost on a set that i need 1 bit out of.

I likely have one of equal or better quality in the shed and i'm only going to use it once so i'll take my chances with the cheap ones. Worst case scenario, i strip the screws and have to use my dremel to get them out and get replacements from Kershaw or just carry it tip-down.
