Can anyone recommend a good set of tools for modern folding knife disassembly and maintenance? Not the top of the line (I'm not rich!), but bits that won't strip. It'd be nice if there is a straight handle and a T-handle involved. And preferably something I can order online, but not from Amazon. And it has to be green. Okay I am kidding about that last one. Thanks.

Wiha or Wera for the bits, take your pick of straight or T-handle drivers...$5 to $500🤷‍♂️

What WV said.

This set can be had for around $30 (if you can find them in stock). Wiha model# 36590. And they're green 🙂 .

Thanks guys, they're the brand I'm looking for now. These and the L keys were of particular interest. Too bad Grainger doesn't ship to Canuckistan, and I'm not so great at finding stuff if it's not on eBay....

And they're green

That gave me a chuckle though! I just picked green out of the air for some humor... "it has to meet all these criteria, AND be the the right color, because I'm not picky at all..." 🤨

Urban EDC Supply is the only place I've found that stocks the exact set of Wiha Torx bits needed for 99% of modern folders. Most sets include a bunch of weird sizes you'll never need, or don't include some less-common sizes (like T15) that you do need.

That plus a stubby Wiha driver, and a couple spare standalone Wiha drivers in the most common sizes (for double-driver tasks like removing Benchmade thumb studs), has covered everything I've ever needed.

Dadpool Dadpool Thanks for the tip, I just checked them out. They have drivers, but no bits, only dead links.

That'll do perfectly my fishy friend. Thank you.

Not yet. Getting a little close to month end, so holding off for now. I have some Canadian Tire brand bit and driver kits that will get me by for now, but the T6s are getting worn and I have to be really careful with them. I kept buying new sets when the T6s eventually wore out, but I can't keep doing that for just the T6.

Something modular like what you suggested sounds close to perfect. Thanks for the tip!

I just went through this myself. Got a little zipper pouch together with everything I need for knife maintenance so I went small with the drivers. Picked up these two (as some knives need both sides loosened/tightened at once):

Quality is superb. Think I like Wera better than Wiha though. You can see them in action in this pic here. If you want a larger driver I bought this one for my father for his birthday and he's already using it like every day:

An even more "future-proof" solution, for those who may need it, is to make sure you get a set of Security Torx drivers instead of regular Torx drivers.

They have a pin in the center of the hole. These are most often found on electronics like an Xbox etc. Having a set of Security Torx drivers has you covered for all eventualities.
