Hey guys, I recently bought a Husky tool set and I plan on returning it mainly for the reason that my T-6 torx bit broke inside one of my screws. Is there a brand that makes quality tools that i should look for? I was at Wal-Mart the other day and saw a tool set similar to mine that fit my needs but was valued at $6 so immediately looked away. I don't wish to pay a whole lot but i guess anywhere from $20 -40 should be fine? What do you guys recommend? I mainly need the Torx bits but i would like to have the other options as well. What do you guys use and how long have they lasted?

This is the set i bought.

Buy a good quality set, I like Wiha brand tools. I have used their torx and hex drivers for several years and never had a problem with any of them.
I think that Amazon carries them, if not look for an industrial supplier like MSC or McMaster-Carr.

Actually, a Husky driver is what I've been using, and it has worked out great. This one was picked up at Home Depot.

The one thing I see and don't like in the other set you pictured, the oversized handle in that kit makes it all-too-easy to over-torque and break small bits, like a T6 torx for example. A smaller handle, rotated using just two or three fingers (as opposed to a full-palm grip) is a lot safer when using small bits, no matter the brand or perceived 'quality'. You might notice all of the high-end brands like Wiha, for example, all use handles appropriately sized for the bits.

On my last trip to Sears I picked up a Craftsman mini torx set for $10. It's only has T6, T7, T8 and T9 torx but I saw they had another 5 piece set from T10-T30. I've only used it a handful of times but I haven't had any problems with any of the torx drivers. They come with the Craftsman warranty so if they ever do break you can just exchange them for new ones.

I went out before they had sets and made my own up. they are the best. I have only had 1 of them break and it was the handle.
