Torx screws

I striped the screw head holding the clip on my large Sebbie. I wish CR would use Torx head screws instead. I find them much more resistant against striping than Allen head screws even in small sizes like T6 in stainless.

I wish had access to Imperial Torx head screws instead of just metric.

Funny you brought this up...

I just called CRK this past Monday (spoke with Shawn) and ordered two of the clip inserts for mine and I mentioned to him how it seems that the clip screws always seem like a loose fit for the allen wrench compared to the other screws on the Sebenza, almost as though its not the proper size.

I noticed that tightening them down enough so that it will keep the clip snug and not have any free play the allen wrench starts to cut into the flat area..which is close to the stripping point.

Good news is that he said they are aware of this, and the problem is believed to be due to the polishing of the screw heads, and that they are looking into it.

He did send me two extra screws along with the ones which came with my clip inserts, so I have a good supply now...But with using the clip inserts, I wont have a problem now, as I dont need to tighten those down much anyway.

I too wish that not only the clip screw, but all the screw heads on the Sebenza would be converted over to torx heads

http://www.mcmaster.com/ had Torx-headed, 303 stainless screws that have the same head shape as the stock screws. I've never had any stripping problems with the Allen-headed screws, but if I were to switch them out, I'd stay with 303. Something about the meshing of that relatively softer stainless keeps the complete fastener unit tight.

Kdarmy, thanks for sharing your findings. I just bought a Classic that I have noticed this with. On all of the other regulars I've had, the clip fit so tight into the recess that I didn't have to worry about play in the clip. Hopefully, CRK will find a way to correct the clip screw issue.
