What would be your thoughts on a full tang Nessmuk Double Bit Hatchet? It would be 1/4" thick O1, with a head 6" wide, and have cutting edges about 3 1/4" long. Overall, it would be about 13" - 14", with 3/4 length handle slabs of oak, tan canvas, or black canvas. (Orange G10 would be available as an option) Cost would be around $250.00. Let me know your thoughts.

After reviewing this, I believe I can do it with oak handles for $225, with micarta for $235, and G10 for $245.

Something like this.

If there is interest, these will be available starting in late September / early October. I am taking orders for them now.

I think it's a great idea, but well out of my price range at the moment.

I have the Ontario RD Hawk, it's 1/4" thick, and too heavy. I like the idea, but maybe a tapered tang, ala Winkler hawks, is in order. That, or drill some holes to lighten up the handle weight. Either way, I just think a hatchet needs the weight in the head.
Unfortunatly, I'm not buying anything right now, but I do like the idea. Just gotta watch the overall weight.

I love that John. As well as the tactical hawk. But as stated by another there a bit out of my range. Keep making
awsome knives and trying new ideas because your nailing them.

All of my hatchets and hawks have lightening holes in the tang under the handles.

That's good to know about the lightening holes, I like to let the head's weight do the work. I just replaced the handle of a cheap Marbles double bit, that handle broke after 5 swings.
If I had the money to spend on another hatchet, your Nessmuk/solid tang would be it. Not traditional, but I'm not either. I'm tempted to sell some other blades though!

I really like the idea, but I think your regular hatchet w/ a double bit would look FANTASTIC. Just straighten the handle a bit, keeping it about the same length.... maybe a tiny bit longer if at all.

Since there is not much interest in this, probably because of cost, I`m going to put this one on the back burner for now.

I'll get one of these eventually. I really like the full tang hatchet concept and this design is a mega-classic.
