Basically, my first project will be to upgrade the sheaths for my Kershaw Skyline fixed blades.

Want to do a cross-draw style. I have veg-tanned tooling leather and beeswax. What else do I need? What kind of thread do I need for hand stitching? What tools do I need for hand stitching and cutting (will x-acto knife work)? How is the beeswax used for the thread and or sheath? How can I dye the leather? What can I do to "form" the sheath to the knife? I have heard mention of "wet forming" - how does this work?

Thanks!

Here's a link for a quick tutorial that I did. There are several great ones on this site. Do some searching and you should find answers to all of you questions. It doesn't take too many special tools to make a sheath. If you're still stuck after you've searched for a while, post here again and I'll be happy to help.

Thank you so much! I love your tip on using the dremel and press since I already have these! Also, I really admire your antique round knife. I have a real thing for antique tools and household items (as my collection of vintage cast iron cookware, for example, can demonstrate). I don't have any old hand tools though.

Keep searching this forum. There's alot of great sheath makers who have posted their work here. I've learned alot from leatherworkers.net as well. Good luck and post some of your work.
