I can get the following in new pre-production form for %40 of list. Should I buy one, all, or none.

Benchmade 690S, 770, 335

I have already picked up a first production run of the mini Dark Star as well as the Gerber Michael Walker design.

I really became interested in knives in general when I first saw the Boker Brend....clean design, smooth action.

I appreciate you advice in advance:D

Is there any validity that the pre-production models are worth more than the usual....or is this a moot point on production knives?

I don't know about whether the preproduction models of these knives would be worth any more than the production ones. I do know, that as good as Benchmade are, I would never buy one of their knives. It is a personal choice based on my dislike of their company policies.

I would buy the one that you like the best. You may be getting a good deal but there are soooo many knives out there! Stick around and you'll learn about more and more and more and more.....you get the picture......:D If you had another source of income you might find it would come in handy!

I think you should just "hang-out" for a bit on here and look around seeing what is said about many types of knives. Then make an educated decision based on your daily carry needs...

"Hunters seek what they [WANT].., Seekers hunt what they [NEED]"

I'll second what the last two posters said, plus keep in mind that a 40% discount off list is maybe average for online knife vendors. But you're on the right track when considering Benchmades, and you might also check out the Spyderco and CRKT lines. ;)

I have always liked knives but I could just about start a new hobby weekly.....knives this week, boats the next, then cars, etc. But I have always liked knives.

So....I basically bought 7 knives in short order this past week all at the 40% discount. I thought I was stealing them at first but realize now that you are all right..40% seems to be about the average asking online.

Anyway...the ones I have now are as follows....

Benchmade 335 (bigspender) Pre-pro
BM 450BC1---for the wife--she really likes it--1st pro run
BM690S Pre-pro
BM885BT 1st pro
Gerber Michael Warker 1st pro
CKRT Bladelock
CKRT Ryan 7

So far the Ryan 7 and the BM335 will be my carries depending on the situation.

My favs are the BM690 and BM885--very smooth and stylish.

I thought the bladelock would be my large carry but having to release the lock to open the knife is somewhat of an inconvenience.

My next purchase will be looking for a Boker Brend Damascus......they have one for %40 off the 395 MSRP but that is still just a little too steep.

They still have a couple BM 770 with BT blades that are pre pros and the also have a Busse Basic combat 3 and Marble curly maple fixed blade around.
