Good one, Bruise:D Now, let's follow this a bit further: One British pound is worth approximately 1,6 dollars. So one kilogram is equal to 3,2 dollars (twisted, isnt'it?). My weight is 85 kilos, so...(calculating frenetically)... I'm worth 272 dollars!!!!!! :D :p What's the weight of a Mustang?

A completely restored 67 coupe would sell for $9-12,000 here in the states.

Looks like this one needs at least a $3000 paint job, so just start making deductions from there. Figure out what you'd have to put into it to get it up to restored value. Subtract that from the high end of my figure ($12,000) and that's what it's worth.

I couldn't determine from the photographs what condition the rear end or backseat is in, and that would definitely make a difference.

See if you can get more info from the seller.

Metric !!

I think - I estimate it's value in US as +- 1500, from what I've seen. And very limited knowledge !!

£4000 = $6283

STEEP I THINK !!

Thanks Pen

From what he tells me - there are no floorboards fitted. Quite a bit of rust and paint job is screwed as can see. Some make do parts as well but aparently it runs fine !!

E-mail if you'd like to have a look at more pics !!

Hi Brendan,

What is a guy in Cleveland looking at UK cars for?:D

Looks like that price is a little steep to me. Roughly CDN$10,000 for a car that is still in primer. If it is a GT500KR or a GT350 I would look more seriously. Also if the only thing it needs is paint, and the rest of the car is a professional, ground-up restoration, it might be worth it by Canadian price standards. However I suspect it will be a lot like Australia and prices will be through the roof on American steel. Also keep in mind that running petrol through the thing will leave you broke, never mind the additional insurance, and you will never be able to afford an HI Khukuri again. Count on 13-18 miles to the gallon (~4.5 Litres), depending on which engine you get.

Not knowing what UK prices on American cars are supposed to be, perhaps you could pick up a couple of trade magazines or advertisement magazines from the same part of the country. We have something called the 'Old Car Trader', a weekly newspaper called the 'BargainFinder' and weekly publication called the 'Auto Trader'. All are good sources to cross-reference prices, and I suggest you do exactly that for a few months or even years, before jumping in and buying an old Mustang.

Just sold my '70 Chev Custom Camper Special. It had 68,000 original miles on it, a big-block 310 horsepower 402ci and is beautiful. I needed the money, and never drove it anyway. She has gone to a family that will treat her with great care though. A good home for her. Nevertheless I will miss her... :(

Notwithstanding, buy a Kothimoda Katana, save ~3700 pounds, and be very happy instead. There are at least a dozen ways to satiate a lust for beautiful things.

I see now you said it was rusty. No floorboards? Seems like this guy wants way too much.

Any car worth $500.00 'runs fine'. What other multitude of secret horrors will you have to fix and import parts for? Looks like the beginnings of a money pit...

Also, looks like this guy has a garage full of old cars. Why isn't he continuing to restore it? If someone does as much of this as he seems to, what would make you think you will have an easier time restoring it than him?

For myself, I would run away. That car looks like about CDN$2000.00 and I probably wouldn't buy it at that.

don't.

Instead, buy a small hammer and hit your fingers with it.
The pain will be about the same, but less expensive and over with sooner.

I don't know about these things and your help probably just saved me some seriuos £££
