A while back Scruffuk contacted me and asked if it might be OK for him to get my address etc. He had seen a post that I had made in the wish list for 2013 thread, and wanted to send me his Douk Douk as that was one of my desired knives. Well today the parcel hit and I am tickled pink with this little knife. See, I had always had the impression that they were much larger...a very pleasant surprise it was for me to finally get to hold this gem of a simple knife. The size is absolutely perfect. It just disappears in the pocket :) Solid, well constructed, and Sharp as the dickens! I love it! The well fashioned lanyard on it will stay. Writing this I am still beaming with joy and thankfulness!

Thank You very much Thom! This will be a great pleasure to carry and use :D

This post (among others) have pushed me into getting a Douk- Douk, i've kept a Squirrel in my wishlist for a while.
What a great gesture on Scruffuk's part!

Interesting - I always thought they were larger as well...
Great gesture, and that is one sweet looking knife!

Duane, I am glad to see it arrived safely.
I have no doubt it will be looked after.

Enjoy.

P.s. Cognet's Douk-Douks come in two sizes folks. This is the smaller of the two, the UK friendly 74mm (yes millimeters, its French ;p) blade or the larger 93mm.
This is the same for all the Douk-Douk styles (excluding the Corsican Vendetta and Stylet iirc).

That arrived quick! I know this is a knife that Scruf liked a lot Duane, and he couldn't wait to give it to you. He gave me a Squirrel a while back, with a similiar lanyard, and a great edge. Smashing knife.

Well done Scruff, grand gesture my friend

Hope you enjoy carrying and using it Duane :)

I confess, was a tad late getting it in the post.

Tis such a good package the Douk-Douk.
I dare say I am missing it a little already....

....but I have many more sharps to console me.

That parcel passed through both systems rather quickly Thom! I was very surprised when it showed up.
These knives are one of the under sung heroes of the cutlery world in my mind! I will take good care of this one for you Thom :^)
Here's a pic of her groomed pointy end for ya' ;)

Thanks again :)

Duane

^^ I hate it!!

:p

Kiddin! That looks absolutely cracking Duane.
For those that don't know, Cognet does send its version of the Turkish Clip out with a very rounded tip.

It really does look great now, and you've added...err well...made your mark on it too now.

I couldn't agree more about how underrated these are.

Maybe it's that it's quite a far flung style?
Maybe it's considered too utilitarian?

In my mind that understated, beauty and simplicity declares more about its Gallic origins than its more well known, provincial cousin 'le couteau d'Opinel', without the more elaborate, poise of the Lagouile.

It's the perfect every day pocket knife.

That´s a great package... :) I´m sure you´ll like the Douk Douk, Duane.

Very well done, Thom. You are a real gentleman.
