I do not have a sand blaster at home and I came across ApostleP suggestion of using sandpaper and rolling over scale to remove undesirable ‘shiny’ parts. FYI I don’t mind snail trails.

I was hesitant but decided to try it out. I did it a little different then suggested, where I put the 100 grit sandpaper on the scale and using pen end rubbed vigorously on backside of sandpaper, repositioning sandpaper often. Then switched to 180 grit paper.

I must say this worked out very well and wanted to share my experience. Try at your own discretion.

Here’s a before and after of a scratched clip I did

For another DIY, had minor scuffs on blade, using oil and green compound I was able to remove by rubbing for about 1 min with a Qtip

Sounds basically like scotch biting. I find it makes the scales a bit slippery, and you likely will not be able to get the factory to re-blast it latter. It does get rid of snail trails though.
It is a different look and many like it.
