Ok I have strider/buck not comfortable to carry, too grabby to even put in pocket.

So, Microtech, MOD, LW Harsey ranger(can get 140), OR ?
Love my MT soccom too much to use, and pretty skinny/weak tip.
Carry my CS voyager 4" tanto most, my fav edc.
want thumb stud not weakening holes (spiderco and Skirmish).
Want a blade at least .140 thick, (otherwise like emerson CQC11)
not sure how thick the Harsey ranger is but seems to be having quality problems.
If CRKT and Cold steel would upgrade to S30....

If I designed a knife it would have a MT soccom like handle, 4" blade, with a design like the CQC 11 or even the Skirmish.
Thumbstud, no holes
Steel: S30, 3V, Infi ;)

I read somewhere about a new soccom tactical, s30V?, but was auto, and too expensive. Maybe it will come in an above version.

Rat trap could be modded by SR. Seems this could have better lock.

Benchmade 720

Ooops, blade is shorter than you want..... sorry about that.

Almar Sere 2000. Strong well made knife.
Also go use that MT socom. It is a strong user knife.

SERE is too short..
No one production makers touch INFI/3V
How about the CQC13? (Still only 154CM, though)

I feel like everything out there is a compromise at least if I stay under $200. Honestly have not found anything I like more than my 4" tanto voyager or CRKT 21. Both need to upgrade steel but are prob 90% of the best too. I like the Soccom the most I guess but since they dont make them any more, she stays in the safe. The Skirmish is a leader too, have not handled one yet.
Sere, is great quality, so I hear, but dont like false edges as I feel this weakens the blade compared to full thickness spine.
Want more of drop point, like scirmish, no holes. A few legal issues with that over 4" blade to, otherwise I would carry my XL Tanto voyager.

Here's another vote for the BM 710 or 710HS.
Out of curiosity, how do you think you're going to break a blade because it has a hole? Likely the mechanism will go first if you abuse it too hard.
Otherwise, I would say that the Spyderco Military is the way to go.
I personally think that the Skirmish is just too big. Unless you are an extralarge guy, I can't imagine making this your EDC.
just my $.02
