Tough Choice in Gentleman Folder!

I'm keeping my eyes to one of the Laguiole folding knife with Juniper handle wood and 12C27 steel, the price is US$145.00. And you all probably know that if I added 10 dollars more, than I can get the Fallkniven Tre Kronor folding knife in G3 laminated steel. I still can smell the traditional touch in this Fallkniven folder, anyway.

What would you choose in this situation? I really want a traditional folder. Any comment will be highly appreciated. Thx guys. Cheers!

I would get one of the Fallkniven folders, I've got a U2 (which is not nearly as nice as the Tre Kronor or U1) and I love it.

In fact, for a gentleman's folder, I think the U1 with cocobolo handle slabs is just about perfect, and the price is around $100. So you could get both a U2 and a U1 for the price of the Laguiole!

It depends on your daily knife needs as well. If you cut a lot of food, fruits and things like that, the extra handle and blade length the Laguiole offers would come in handy.

If you want traditional, go french. It's been made that way for years. If you want modern, go japanese (falkniven's are made in japan.) I've wanted both for awhile, but I'd go french first.

I really appriciate your opinion brownshoe. The french is very hard to resist apart from the hype of the new steel it just a class of it's own. Thanks.

They're both fine knives NO DOUBT.
I'd go for the French, at first, it has more heritage and gravitas, longer handle more useful for food tasks too.

I have to admit, if the Falkniven is anything like the TK3 I just saw, it would not be my first choice. The Laguiole is a much more classic design, executed extremely well. I have a 12.5cm model which can be a bit large for day to day carry (depends on how you do it), but it's an exceptionally nice knife, and normally has a place on my dinner table as well. It fits the hand very well, as though they'd been doing this design for years. ;)

Mine has snakewood, brass bolsters, and 12C27 steel. Sharpens up like a razor.
