Well. I have been selling some items around the house that I dont use anymore trying to get some money to put into my savings account. I have decided that I am going to leave a little money out to buy myself a new knife. I have basically narrowed down my choices to a benchmade ruckus/mini ruckus, or a spyderco manix. I am going to be adding the knife to my edc rotation. Right now I have a spyderco native and para millitary. I know at some point I will end up with both knives, but wich one would you buy first? Also does anyone have a pic of the BM rukus and mini rukus next to eachother. Thanks.

If I were in your place, I'd probably go with the Mini-Rukus. I say Mini-Rukus over the Manix for the time being because it would add some variety to your collection in terms of the locking mechanism (and blade steel and handle material, no?). The Axis lock is probably my favorite lock because of its ability to SO easily and quicly open and close. I definitely think it's worth getting the Mini-Rukus earlier just to have that little extra bit of variety until you can get the Manix as well.

And I say Mini-Rukus over the full-size Rukus because from the other knives you mention, the Mini-Rukus sounds to be much more in your size range. It may have "Mini" in the name, but there's really nothing mini about the Mini-Rukus. I don't own any of the mentioned knives, but if memory serves, it'd be a touch bigger than the Para-Military. The full-size Rukus is HUGE. I mean, if you're looking for a very large knife to broaden the variety/utility of your collection, then I'd vote for the Rukus. But if you're not really looking to venture into the huge knives, I'd say stick with the Mini-Rukus.

Ultimately, though, you clearly need to get them all, and you can't go wrong with whichever one you get first.

I have the Mini-Rukus and love it. It is one of my favorites out of 8 great folders. I also have the Spyderco Chinnok III which is similar to the Manix. The Benchmade is easier to carry and has better fit and finish. The Benchmade also has the Axis lock which is smoother and more solid in lockup than the Spyderco lock-back. I like them both but the Mini-Ruckus ends up in my pocket way more often.
