First off, the 112 has always been one of my all time favorite folders. It's just one of the great designs; perfect size, shape and use-ability.
Well, I picked up a few of the Founder's Edition tins this Christmas. Figured I'd use one and save two for my sons. The other day I found my user in a different place than where I left it...I thought, it has to be the boys.
Everything seems fine until I took a closer look. The dirt residue made it look more like a shovel than a knife! The nail nick was packed, it opened with a slight grinding feel and the blade was a little...uugh scratched. No real damage, bolsters were fine and the blade was dull but not chipped, not to mention, the tip was intact.
I asked my oldest what happened and got a blank stare. After a few minutes, the truth came out, "Dad, we were playing Army and I needed it to climb the hill". He said it was too steep and needed a hand hold so he used the only tool he had...my 112! Nice visual.
After a good cleaning and a few minutes on the stone it's good as new with some extra character marks. The 112 is a tough customer.
