Aloha ALL!

Does anyone here have one of these? If so, how has it served ya?

Mahalo in advance...

God bless

Hiya Daywalker..

I have two of them, carry one for work, one for play (hunting and fishing). But I think what will say it all about my opinion on this tool is this: When my step-brother went to Iraq a couple months ago, I sent along with him two Camillus knives (Jet Pilot and large boot knife- both in Desert Finish), a couple of mini-mag lights and several dozen batteries... and one of the Tough Grips packaged with the four in one screwdriver. Should handle any pilikia he runs up against.

Thanks for stopping into the forum, don't be a stranger!

Edited to add: I made a mistake in my answer. See my next post in this thread.

Mahalo Piliki!

State of "denial" huh? :)

Anyway, thanks for your input. I been trying to figure on an economical multi for my car and for possible use during facility shakedowns. How's the Vise Grip feature...good or what?

God bless

Aloha Daywalker,

The only drawback I have found to the Vise Grip tool is that the shape causes difficulty in turning the screwdrivers with a lot of force.

I have one in the car for emergency needs because they do work.

Curious as to what "possible use during facility shakedowns" means?

I have used one for 2-3 years...first off the plastic sheath is not too functional...the tool rides too high in it for comfortable belt carry however the sheath is fine for glove box storage and the such. The Vice Grip portion of the tool works very similar to a normal Vice Grip tool. It is needle-nosed and quite stout and robust, as you would expect from its Vice Grip lineage...the various and assorted tools that nest in the handle are somewhat difficult to use due to the Vice Grip handle curvature that they nest into...mine has a saw blade that is 2-1/2" long...quite impractical for any long or tough sawing duties, albeit that is getting away from the "emergency" design of the tool. All the tools do lock in the open position which is always a welcome feature. To summarise I would conclude the Tough Grip is well made, sans sheath, fairly practical and best for glove box or field pack carry....and hey, its a darn sight better than nothing...a multi-tool saved me a long walk when a fuel line punctured on my pickup years ago while deer hunting...the young sprout who was hunting w/me had a ubiqueous 30/30...I had him shoot a round off and I cut the base off w/my multi-tool saw, cleaned it up a bit w/the multi-tool file and using some wire I scrounged off a fence, I used the modified 30/30 brass to make a fuel line patch pipe of sorts...it got me home....hope this helps

Whoooppss! I have made yet another mistake! Trust me, I did not send my step brother off to war with that tool! It was the tough tool ST1N.

I do have the vice grip tool. Not bad, but not great.
Sorry for the confusion

Mahalo Irv and libbyhuck!

Irv, facility shakedowns means that I'd be using it in the Inmate housing units when we gotta "clean up the place". I am a CO, and man, these guys can make some weird things outta sheets and what not! Mostly I'd be using the blade, but to pull stuff outta the cell door locks, I'd need that really pointy nose of the Tough Tool...

Anyway, thanks again for the input!

God bless

Thats a great story about using a multitool , and your head, to get yourself out of a jam. Also a good example of why I carry a tool of some sort with me 99% of the time.
