I just killed my second Wiha T6 bit, and I'm starting to think their T6 bits aren't quite up to snuff for the reputation of the brand. Is Wera the only step up from Wiha, or what are other options for high quality T6 bits? The T8 and T10 bits have been great, just not T6.

Have you tried the wiha 'align' bits?

Wera bits are good.

Hazet torx drivers are top end and last the longest. But they also cost more.

Knipex are good too.

  • Special purpose steel for excessive use
  • High-precision, close-tolerance fabrication of tips and edges
  • For electric and pneumatic screwdrivers as well as for manual operation
  • Tough and hard for threaded screws (hard screw-joint)
  • Permanent hardness of 59-61 HR C for high demands in trade and industry
  • High torque values, well above DIN standard, over a long service life

For repeated Use.

I ordered a new Wiha set and a Wiha Align T6. Hoping those will work better than the Wiha bit assortment set I bought (the T6 made it through like 5 knives).

Do a lot of the knives your using it on have loctite? If so do you heat up the screw or anything to loosen the loctite before hand?

Just a quick thought-- Have you ever tried grinding the tips flat again? I've got a nice set of MIP hex drivers that I use on various hobby stuff, and every once in a while the tips would get a little rounded off, so I grind them flat again which allows them to seat properly into the screw head and not be as prone to slipping.

There are Torx & Torx Plus...….. They are shaped different......Make sure you are using the right series...…….. It is kinda like the difference between SAE Phillips & JIC Phillips...…….

How are the new bits working?

Let me know your impressions after some time. They should last a lot longer.
Will do. I haven't had trouble with wiha per say, but I do have to replace about every year - at least, the t6 and t8 (most used )

Some of the WIHA stuff is now being made off shore, and it is less expensive than the German stuff. I do not know how they compare performance wise.
