Whats the toughest knife in the style of the Randall#18?

A thread by sams got me interested in the idea of such a knife as a real survival tool so I want a user not a mall ninja tactical blade or a collection piece.

Any recommendations? price must be under $400.

(It's my first thread so my apologies in advance if I wrote it in the wrong section!)

Another nod to the CRK one piece knives.

Chris Reeve Project I. I LOVE MINE. I liked it so much I want and bought another Chris Reeve within a month of owning it!

Ray Laconico, a maker on this forum, has made such knives in the past. I don't know if he is still making them, but I would suspect his bill would come in under your limit.

I recommend his work very highly!!

Interesting suggestion, but unfortunately Wilkinson Sword no longer exist as a knife producing company.

BTW, the only other movie Rambo-type knife I do admire would be the "Commado Life Support I ® System" from Jack Crain.

+ 1 Chris Reeve.
The only other knife with "a sort" of hollow handle that is strong enough to be used is the Wilkinson Dartmoor ( but it's 440C )

Cold Steel Bushman about $20 and can do as well as most, look at the Noss destruction tests.

...or I could buy both :P

I prefer the look of the CRK and the fact that inside of the handle is water proof (useful for tinder/matches) although the bushman is a fine knife for the money.

Thanks for all the help guys;

One quick question- does the lifetime guarantee from CRK still apply if the knife is bought second hand?
