Taking a little business trip to Austin Tx. this week. Hope to have business wrapped up Friday and have Saturday to play.

First things first though, where is the closest place to by an Opinal near the airport?

Anyway, hope to have Saturday to look around. Boy toy stores and such.

Any suggestions?

I lived in Austin from August 1992 until May of this year. I have to tell you that *nothing* is close to the airport except The Landing Strip (a gentlemen's club) and a couple of gas stations. Austin Bergstrom Int'l Airport is a converted air force base and it's about 10-12 miles from downtown.

I'm afraid I've never seen an Opinel for sale in an Austin store, but you might try McBride's Guns (http://www.mcbridesguns.com/location.htm), which is north-central Austin on Lamar Boulevard. McBride's is the largest locally-owned knife and gun shop in town; the service is great but the prices are all retail. I only ever bought a knife there when it was on clearance.

Other fun tourist stuff to do is visit Town Lake, take a tour of the Capitol, or have some good barbecue or Mexican food. I recommend Art's Rib House on South Lamar or one of the several Pok-e-Joe's BBQ locations; also, for Mexican food, try Juan in a Million (http://www.juaninamillion.com/) or Guero's (http://austin.citysearch.com/profile/10210784/).

Thanks for the tips on the food, I do intend to eat well!

After I posted this I realized that since I am flying that if I did find any cool knives I would have to have them shipped home. Dont know if I can go 2-3 days without at least something to give away before I board the plane home.
