Here is a little fixed blade Towell that I engraved a while back. I did this knife for the Wickenburg show this last weekend at the Los Cabb guest ranch. Which was a good show, Tim Hancock, Larry Feugen, Rick Dunkerley, and a handful of others, both western gear and knifemakers were there. It was fun, Arizona in Dec at 70 degrees, sure beats Idaho at 20 degrees, especially when you get to stay at a swanky guest ranch, I think I gained 10 lbs. from all the food they serve.

Anyway, Dwight Towell is a friend of mine, he lives only a couple miles down the road, and so it was nice to be able to cut one of his knives. Also the flowing lines of edges were nice to work with and I tried to accentuate them with the varied width of the gold border, which is out of the norm for me, typically I prefer simple borders. I did due some complex scroll work, so I opted against putting any gold in the scroll, being the knife has a simplicity to it and I did not want to kill it with gold, so to speak. Anyway thanks for looking, let me know what you think either way. -Brian

That's very nice work, both the knife and the engraving!

Kind regards,

Jos

That is very nice engraving.

I have been impressed by Dwight Towell knives since the first time I saw one, which was about 35 years ago.

Your engraving, Brian, elevated a nice looking knife
to the next level!

All the best,

Yes, Dwight has been building knives for a long time. He told me in the early days, there was no such thing as knife shows. Knifemakers had to go to gunshows to display their work. He told me he made knives for many years and had never met another knifemaker. It makes me think about how fortunate we are now days to have a multitude of shows and access to others in the business at a touch of a button. I feel lucky to have gotten to know him, he is a wealth of knowledge, most of which was hard gotten.

Thanks for showing your work, Brian.
Outside of the forum, I don't get much of an opportunity to see stuff like this, and it's really amazing to me that I get to see some of this stuff at all!
It's a Brave New World, my friend:)

Ps. I do like the varying thickness of the golden border. Just enough gold, too, as you said.

Looks good Brian. I would say the engraving most definitely enhances the look of the knife, and that is a nice knife.
