I've always carried the house brand, but noticed the pre-packaged rolls (1-1/2" or so) stuff in the camping section a while back.

Anyone have any pros or cons for these convenient rolls?? Seems they'd be easier to carry in the cars.

Guess I could just get one and try it on the home field....

Lemme know.

Don't know about the rolls you refer to, but nothing - and I mean NUTHIN' - beats wooly mullein leaves when you're out-n-about. :D :D

For the car (van) I just carry full-size rolls. Better to be over prepared than under...:(

I just wait until the family has used about half or a little more of a regular roll of Scott. Then I take it, pull the tube out, and squash it FLAT by putting it into a small ziplock and standing on it while the air squeezes out of the bag and then I zip it with the air out. This takes up little space and give me a lot more paper. I keep a few of these in my car and use them frequently as I'm on the road all the time.

Sorry, I've no experience with the small rolls of tp from the camping section. Not sure how soft & comfy they are. After dealing with the 80-grit recycled newsprint tp in German public toilets for a number of years, I now stick with softer paper. ;) I know the regular stuff from my bathroom stash is nice & soft. So I take rolls from home, knowing I'll be treated gently. I tend to use home commodities for camping, since I've got them around the house anyway.

For packaging, the bags used by the Tilia vacuum pack food sealers are pretty sturdy. The vacuum process also squashes a standard tp roll pretty flat as well. I've had one vacu-sealed in my car kit for over a year with no perceptible leakage of air into the bag. Alternatively, the other tp roll in my car I double-bagged in Ziploc heavy-duty freezer bags. The two bags keep it dry & ready to use without having to cut it out of its packaging, which the vacu-sealed roll would require.

Go asian mate - use your left hand. Very convenient. That's why you should never eat, give or recieve or touch someone with your left hand in SE Asia - In case you didn't know that already.

If you have access to MRE's, they have a nifty little wad of TP all pre-packed and ready. I think there still held together with a paper seal.

Cheers,
Hal

Cool. I'l stick with home-rolled... A lot safer.

I bought one of the camping section rolls. I think it is Coleman. I'll get a report posted when I get brave....:D ;)
