Trace Rinaldi Custom Blades.......

Chad, Thanks for the review and the pix. I'll definitely second your comments about the high standard of fit and finish on Trace's work. The price for a Talonite Tempest only looked high until I held the knife in hand. Then it looked like a bargain. :)

RokJok is right about handling a Rinaldi. I liked the look of Trace's TTKK, but when I held in in my hand it sealed it. There is no other knife I've held that fits me like they do. It is almost as if Trace had a tracing of my hand when he ground it. I've got a Talonite/G10 TTKK for work, a BG42/Carbon Fiber for those dressy occasions, and a 154CM/G10 Gambit just for variety. Do yourself a favor and try to get one.

If you do a search on my name, you will find numerous posts of praise for the quality of his work. A THR Blade is a joy to own and use.

Marklee, those are very nice. Please contact me if you ever decide to sell them.......
Trace's work is great, I have never heard a customer complaint and with this crowd there would be some if they exsisted.....

He is a true gentleman to work with and takes obvious pride in his work.

Ditto what everyone else has said about Trace and his knives. Trace has been super easy to work with when designing & ordering a custome knife. His work is outstanding and he is a real gentleman. Higher praise I cannot give. You won't be sorry you ordered a knife from Trace.

I own several of Trace's knives and have several more on order, they are the best knives I have seen as far as fit, finish and blade design go. He uses only the best materials and his customer service is outstanding. He will answer all your questions and make sure you are happy with what ever knife you order from him.

I'm curious to know about anyone actually using the ttkk in the kitchen? I'm beginning to look into kitchen knives (don't know much about them) and like the ttkk, but I'm not sure if it's facetiously named kitchen, or if it was actually designed to work in the kitchen.

Now you did it..I have been holding out for a year now on an order for the TTKK..but after seeing the handle mod you had Trace make for you ..I had to have one...Do you suppose you'll get royalties??? Great looking knife..What is the edge geometry like ?

I love my red G-10 scaled Talonite TTKK (TTTKK) and I also have a red G-10 scaled Gambit. Trace's work is top notch! I will get more Rinaldis. I like the long TTTKK, might have to look into that! I use my TTTKK in the kitchen, at work and when I am out camping.

Thanks a lot Chad, make me want to spend even more money:D :D

Been putting off getting a couple TTKK's for camping use as the wife would skin me alive:eek: However, I've been bitten by the Rinaldi bug and it's all you're fault;) Now to try and figgure out how to justify them, not to mention how to pay for them:)

I use my D2 TTKK in the kitchen all the time.

How do you think I could afford the Striders:eek:

Next idea>>>was selling bodly fluids. However, that did not pan out either as the drive down and back eats up the profits in gas money:(

I have a D2/carbon fiber TTKK that is pretty amazing. The blade is a bit thick for regular kitchen work, but I think mine is thicker than a normal TTKK. It's more of a camp kitchen knife than a thin bladed slicer. But it's hell on wheels when hacking a chicken into quarters or chunking veggies for stock. I keep trying to find excuses to use it in the kitchen. Anybody want some soup? Perhaps a nice demi-glace?

And, yep, his customer service is excellent. Trace graciously agreed to reprofile the edge for me after I f'ed it up putting a 15/20 double bevel on it. He kept the edge angles, but cleaned them up considerably. Now, with the Spyderco Ultra-fine rods, I've got an edge on it that actually frightens me a little.

All in all, a dang nifty piece of hardware.

I bought some low-end, stamped, Henckels International knives -- 6pc set -- 3" paring knife, 5" Utility knife, 8" Chef's knife, shears & 10x15 hardwood cutting board. All for $40 at Foley's.

Unpacked everything, stuck my TTKK back in my knife case.

Then I tried to slice up some cold, previously cooked chicken breast. Not impressed. I brought my TTKK back to the kitchen, for use when I need a REAL knife!

Mine cuts sweer, the 1/8" stock is defintly a real slicer. I am running mine at a 30 degree included angle and it is hair flinging sharp. The Paul Bos heat treat is great, no rolling, no chipping.

I carry my Tempest and Gambit when I go deer hunting, both are made out of 154CM. They make a great combination, with those 2 knives I can handle any thing I will have to do in the woods. The Gambit is the perfect size for field dressing deer. The Tempest is good for clearing shooting lanes. Trace did a great job on those two designs, you can't go wrong with that pair.
