Trace Rinaldi steel

Hi-I've got a TR Tanto (3 -4 years old?) on eBAY. It's black-chisel ground-anyone know what type of steel he was using? My emails to him don't seem to be getting through. thanks
 
I just sent Trace a Private Message with a link to this thread...he should see it next time he's on Bladeforums.

I don't suppose you have a link to the eBay auction? A picture maybe?

LOL-no I'm SELLING it-someone wrote me asking what kind of steel and I told him I'd find out-Thanks again
 
Actually, it could be one of many different steels. I know he uses D2, BG42, S30V and a few others. Only Trace would know.

I dont care what the steel is , it's an early Rinaldi...I am all over it...(( dbuauditor )):D

my bad bro....if you really want it I can back off seeing as I am going to visit Trace in a few weeks anyways and can get a blade from him then....
 
No, not at all - I'm actually a little relieved. I didn't realize it was chisel ground until after I bid :)

You know what the Rinaldi Itchy Trigger Finger will do to a guy... :D

Trace is such a cool cat , I am looking forward to going down to visit and just chill with him for a day or so ...whoever ends up with that will be a happy camper....if I notice we are bidding against each other at the end I will cease and concede...as long as it goes to a happy home :D

Hi Guys.. That is a very early Spook, my guess would be like Owens ATS34, and polished black linen micarta.. Its either that or BG-42..
It should be marked on the opposite side, but might not be if its a REAL early one...

figured this was an early blade...before your world got turned upside down....hehe...get it..PIKAL....lol...man I need sleep. :rolleyes:
