After a long time search for a 4.5” fixed blade for general camping tasks and food preparing, I have found what seems to me the right knife. It’s T.T.K.K. model by Trace Rinaldi.
I’d like to know your opinion about that and which steel you would chose among A2, CPM S30V and CPM 3V.
Thanks

I can't help you on the choice of steels, or really even offer an opinion on the blade in question, but I thought I'd pop in to say that Trace is one of the few makers I've met in person, and I think I'm a pretty good judge of character (I size people up fast due to what I due for work) and I like and trust the guy.

Also, lotsa good things are being said about his knives.

I know that ain't much help, but I thought I should speak up.

I can vouch for the knife as a kitchen tool. I bought one some time ago from BladeArt. The steel is 154CM. It is my favorite in the kitchen. The knife has a great balance. It sort of lays in your hand waiting to chop, dice, crack bone etc. The thumb ramp combined with index finger placement on the handle make it very secure. I know you will be happy with a TTKK whatever steel you select.

I met Trace at Blade West and he is a truly a great guy.

I have a Warhawk in BG-42 and an LEO in A-2. They are great knives and Trace will make them to your specifications. It takes longer to get the knives than from some people, but you can choose the steel, blade configuration, handle material, and sheath. This way you get the exact knife that you want.

Good choice! Great maker.

S30V is a good choice for all around use. However, if you are planning on any heavy chopping, or any other activity that requires hard blade impacts, go with the 3V.

Now I am talking heavy impacts, such as cutting down a tree or splitting fire wood.
