Saw this today in an area I dont think anyone has been since the rain yesterday. its a pretty wide gate for a cat, no nails at all and might even be a human print but I just dont think so.

Any ideas?

the semi circular ring towards the left of the main indentation...did any of the other tracks in the pattern have that?

Not that I notoced. Thinking s horse?

There's a LOT of weathering in that track. I think the rain eroded nearly all of the detail: all I can tell you from the two pictures I see is that it's a fairly direct register. I can't even tell you the size, because it appears the tracks have widened quite a bit from erosion. I'd need to see more pictures.

Seems like it was moving from left to right, given where the dirt got kicked up. I think the semicircular mark is a slightly indirect register: Pitdog is not wrong to consider a horse there, but unless your hand is huge or the horse small, I'm not sure it isn't something more familiar to your area.

Thanks! Others are suggesting a human print but it doesn't seem like it is to me.

Might be a mule. Lots of folks going to mules over horses. They eat less, don't mind high heat, live longer with less health problems and are sure-footed.
For trail riding, they really don't need to be shod, just trimmed up regularly. If that is a mule print and you are in an area with sharp rocks or other sharp ground objects, it may be wearing a half boot.

Maybe. The tracks aren't very deep for the softness of what that mud would originally have been. A mule could leave a track that shallow, easily. Heck, not an animal I think much about.
