Does anyone have any experience with the trade knives from Track of the Wolf? They look pretty good, but how do they hold up to actual use? As replicas are they intended only for show or could they be used? Thanks guys.

Don't know about track of the wolf, but Jeff White makes some nice trade knives, I've got one of his 4" french patterns. His stuff can be found on ebay.

I have no experience with them. This is from the description of the drop point.

"This handy medium sized drop point knife has a 4" long blade made of 1/16" thick, 1095 hi-carbon steel. It is fire etched during the heat treating process and tempered to Rockwell 56."

1/16ths is a lil thin for my tastes. IME 1095 takes a good edge and with a good heat treat is one of my favorite steels.

If you use for fine cutting tasks you should be fine with it.

Thanks guys. I agree about 1095, it's really my preferred steel, but I missed the part about the rockwell hardness, so I didn't know if they treated for use or not. If I pick one up I'll let you guys know how it goes.

Based on Tony’s description it sounds like a pretty good user.

The 1095 at 56Rc will offer a tough edge that will sharpen easily; I think you will find it to offer a good compromise between toughness and edge retention

I look forward to hearing your thoughts once you put it to the test.

I have bought quite a bit of stuff from them, I was always happy with my purchases.

I like the scottich ballock dirk. I looks like a very functional design.

I've got a bunch of them, they are good little knives, my wife carries a smaller model edc. I really like the very small models, they are handy.. The only one that I haven't used a lot is a larger model, I found the grip a little short for my hand... You can see attached to this Machax rig.. I'll post more pics later if I get a chance..
