Hi all,

Ever since seeing Mr Black use his tops tracker knife to make spiral curl shavings,
I have wanted to do that too. But I did not have a tracker knife made up.
I finally got a few made up.
I am using the 3rd one I made up to make some of them spiral shavings.
The hook part is just a pleasure to use for making the spiral curls

Check out the video I did. Just click on the pic and the video should play.

Today, I split up up a 2.5" wide branch and the split it up into smaller more managable pieces and then did these
mega spirals and curls. some of these shavings are 6" long.

This morning I was looking at the wilderness survival forum and see this fellow using a spring pole
snare to catch wild kitty cats in his area. I thought yep I am going to head out to the woods down by the
river and make one up too.
I get to a sweet spot and fine a young Hackberry sapling that will work
great for a spring pole snare set up. I started to get the saplings branches cut off with my
tracker knife and then started to get the other parts for the trap and decided to take some pics.
That is when I noticed my camera is not in it pouch.

Damn. Well I am not walking back just for that
Camera, I just finished up the spring pole snare and then Wednesday I will make sure I take the video camera
to show the set up.

Anyways Like the title says post your tracker knife action pics up.
All versions welcome:D

Thanks, Bill. Yea I am pretty impressed with this WSK. The way it carves the spirals is so cool.

I got out in the woods today. Nothing ground breaking but I took a maple branch and turned it into a stake.
It was a fun little project.

In this pic I have the branch cut and ready for carving.

In this pic I have the point, the top of the stake trimmed so that it will not mash up when
being hit into the ground. I also notched a ring around stake for tying cord on it.

Then I pounded the stake into the ground and took a pic of it with my WSK.

I had a pretty good walk with Kelly Girl. It was a beautifull sunny day to be walking in the wood
by the river.

Sorry it took me this long Bryan. I been having computer issues.

The tracker really does make cool curls. You did a great job on this one Bryan. Thanks

Very cool, Hawkeye5. No problem on the it taking so long. Computers can be a pain sometimes.
I wonder where Pitdog is, since he likes the tracker knife design.
Calling pitdog,

Also do not think that I have forgot about sending one of these versions to ya for some
testing. I am having so much fun with mine. I took 3 more in this week to get the saw milled them. LOL yea
one more for me and 2 for others. When I get the next one for me done, I will e-mail ya.

Chat with you all later,

Bryan

Looking forward to it Bryan. I have not seen Pitdog around in a while. Was wondering about him yesterday.

Hi all,

Today I finished up another tracker version. This one has deeper and has more spacing in the saw part
and it is closer / in the middle of the spine. It also has 6.5" long blade. I kept the handle straighter
and did not cant it like on the other orange handle one I made. I also have the hook part not as deep.
I did just to see if I like it better. If I do not then I will do some regrinding and make it deeper.

I also did a quick little video of comparing the saws for making notches on a 2x4.

Here is a pic of them side by side.

Here is pic of the knives side by side with a top view of the saw portion.

Just click on the pic and the video should play.

I personally like the deeper and wider spacing. I think it really makes the saw more aggressive when sawing.

Anyways I will chat with you later,

Bryan

I only had the medium version, the T2. It was too small and light to be a chopper. Too short to baton much. I always wanted to try the full size version, but it would have to have the Breeden treatment to be worth it ;)

Thanks for the kind words, schmittie. I agree with ya having one made with the Breeden treatment would be kind of cool lol.

I do not think I have ever held the T2. My wife was just telling me that
if I made a smaller tracker knife ( with pink handles of corse lol) that she would like to see that for smaller hands
as she put it. I might make one for fun and see what she thinks if it.

You know these knives are not choppers like the bigger longer knives are. Well that is my thinking anyways.
I think they make a great woods mans knife sawing in notches for the bow drill and trap parts, skinning fish and game, carving wooden tools, cuttng poles for a shelter, etc. I am just not using mine for a chopper like I would a bigger knife.

Well anyways,

Chat with you all later,

I've always been on the fence about the WSK design, but Mr. Breeden you are pushing me over the edge with your versions. How about a video of both of your knives chopping?

Hi all,

cramsey3006, Well thank you the kind words I hope I can get to like or even love the design.

Please all me Bryan not that Mr. stuff lol

Well as to a chopping video I will try to get one made up in a couple of days so stay tuned.
But for right now how about a little friction fire video I did today using one of my tracker versions
as a bearing for the bow drill.
Just click on the pic and the video should play.

Here is a couple of videos of my doing some light chopping with my tracker version.

The first one is on a half dead mullberry tree and then with cotton wood tree that feel over in a wind storm.
I do not really do a lot of chopping with my knives on much bigger than 2" or so anything bigger than that I use a saw or axe. Unless I am carring a longer knife for trail clearing, a smaller knife just does chop 2" or bigger wood fast enough for me. Like I said I will saw it or use a axe on the bigger wood.

Just click on the pics and the videos should play for ya.

Chat with you all later,

Bryan

Good stuff Bryan . I think if more people would try the Tracker for chopping and making curls they would really like it.
Thanks for posting.

Good lord these are awesome! If you PM me your address, Bryan, I will send you my T2 to measure and play with, and if you would give it a sharpening and knock down the hook some, I'd appreciate it.

Great vids Bryan! Like you, I'm not much into chopping with a knife, but those knives of yours look to get the job done nicely!
