Hi all while in the doctors office today I was looking through the Modern Maturity Magazine and saw an article in the Nov-Dec 1999 volume something about wilderness trips and it showed a picture of this knife in the sheath and I would like to get some info about the knife. It was designed by Tom Brown Jr. and looked to have a micarta or the like handle. Please give me all the info you have. Thanks Geoff.

The knife was also co-designed by my friend Steve Lee, who was TB jr.'s chief instuctor for a few years, starting 6 months after the Tracker school opened its doors.
The knife is made by Dave Beck. I have his contact info somewhere around -- I'll post it as soon as I find it.

This is an excerpt form an email I received on the subject:

Tracker knives are each custom made, and are practically indestructible. He
has a brochure / flyer on them, and can probably send you one if you ask.
They ain't cheap, either, running $400 + 12.80 shipping, but after seeing
one in person, they are close to indispensable in a survival situation.
There are also 2 different styles of sheaths, a regular version and a
"scout" version (using Tom Brown definition of scout) which allows the
knife to be strapped across the small of your back. He will also put a
pocket on the sheath to hold smaller items, like a smaller knife, or a
Leatherman tool, for no extra charge. The wait depends on how many he has
made @ the time you call. Average waiting time is about 4 weeks or so, and each knife is guaranteed for the life of the knifemaker.

You might want to hunt up a copy of Tactical Knives Spring 95. Dave Beck, 1939 Reading Blvd., Dept. TK, West Lawn, PA 19609; 215-670-5244 made the knife.
