A friend of mine wanted something along the line of a "tracker" but
with a guard. The steel is all from truck leafspring.
The blde is 8" X 2.5" X 1/4".
The handle is a high impact resin pour through the tang ( all one piece ).
I laid the guard forward so that the thumb can be placed on top for
pushing down. All edges are sharpened. The top is an axe grind. The "hook"
is flat grnd. The front is a slight convex.
The sheath is handstitched leathers. The snap strap holds the back of the blade to the sheath edge so I added a tie down thong for walking in brush.

very rugged looking knife.

what tools did you use to construct this? is it a stock removal or a forged piece?

I like that. I do think it'd be nice if the handle were more symmetrical so you could grip it with the "normal" edge forward for certain tasks. I think the straight edge is a lot more practical than the sawback on most WSK style knives.

What kind of grind is an "axe grind"?

Thanks for the input.
There is some stock removal as in most blades.
The leafspring is straightened in the forge. Most of the rough shaping was done with an angle grinder with cutting wheels. The rough bevels are done in the forge and on the anvil. The bevels are then "trued" with hand filing.
The guard, bolsters and pommell sides are welded to the tang using a wire feed welder (innercored).
I harden/tempor blades the low tech. way. Heat/quench a test piece till it can be broken. Then soften it to where you want.
By " axe grind " I refer to a heavy abrupt bevel suited for cracking bones, etc.
